The need for centralized decision support tools are critically important for first responders and emergency management personnel. The systems used to coordinate incident response and manage teams and assets involved requires careful planning as well as testing and rehearsal. OneSky was proud to be a part of one such testing activity being conducted this past month in Denton, TX as part of a disaster response and emergency management exercise. This was meant to allow simulated training opportunities for first responders and incident response teams across Denton County.
Participation included local police, EMT, fire departments and other county departments were coordinated in conjunction with the University of North Texas where a natural disaster was simulated at the UNT football stadium. As part of this simulation, OneSky’s UAS Traffic Management (UTM) system was deployed to provide enhanced situational awareness of various UAS operations being conducted in support of the testing activities. As UAS were being utilized for data collection or increased surveillance capabilities, all activities were able to be monitored through Denton County’s central Incident Command and share-cast across all participating groups as necessary.
